WARNING: Strong language - Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino clashed with one journalist in the aftermath of his team's one-sided walloping of Everton on Monday

Not even a 6-0 demolition of Everton is enough to win some people over.

Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino might have expected a field day in his post-match press conference on Monday evening. Having just bettered Everton thanks in large part to a Cole Palmer masterclass, the Blues boss is unlikely to have enjoyed many games more than this.

However, much of the dissection instead concerned the penalty spat that broke out between Noni Madueke and Nicolas Jackson after the former won a spot-kick. Palmer, 21, instead stepped up to convert his fourth of the day, though Pochettino perhaps didn't account for just how much attention that moment would demand.

And the Argentinian didn't hide his frustration at the line of questioning, abruptly ending the conference before turning back to tell the media: "All day we talk about one thing. You all [asked] one [question] all press conference."

But former Stamford Bridge pitchside announcer Neil Barnett bit back by suggesting that might have been the case had journalists been given more time. In a rare back-and-forth between a manager and media, Barnett shouted: "You stopped the press conference!"

And it was as Pochettino was heading for the door that Barnett - the long-term host of The Football Show on US radio channel SiriusXM - piped up again, railing: "S*** management of a press conference." That may have been a critique of Chelsea's PR team than Pochettino specifically, though the manager was clearly being attributed his share of the blame.

The former Tottenham and Southampton boss did address the Madueke and Jackson situation, saying he was "so upset about the situation." Summer signing Palmer is Chelsea's designated penalty-taker and stamped his authority on the matter after a prolonged scuffle between his team-mates.

On the plus side, all appeared well between the disgruntled comrades after the final whistle. However, the same can't be said for Pochettino and at least one member of the press in attendance on Monday.
