The Queen has battled her mobility issues which have limited her appearances over her Platinum Jubilee celebrations, to star in weekend's grand finale at Buckingham Palace

The Queen has overcome her mobility issues at 96, to make a historic appearance at her Platinum Jubilee finale.

Fans gathered at the Mall eagerly awaiting Her Majesty take to the Buckingham Palace balcony, and were given a boost when the royal standard was raised at around 4.31pm to mark her arrival from Windsor Castle.

The thousands in attendance erupted into a riotous applause when the balcony doors opened to the monarch who has been forced to miss a number of the events due to "episodic mobility problems".

The Queen had not been seen in public since Thursday for the Trooping of the Colour on the first day of the bank holiday celebrations but returned to the balcony following a colourful and eye-opening parade.

A ceremonial military procession launched the Platinum Jubilee Pageant which spiralled into a weird and wonderful affair watched on by much of the royal family.

The Queen was missing from the royal box during the day but greeted the crowds in attendances outside the Palace following a performance from Ed Sheeran who sang to a montage of the Queen.

Brits were left howling after a woman sat behind Prince Charles at the Jubilee pageant was caught falling asleep several times during the ev

Prince Charles and Camilla are watching the parade from the royal box alongside the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and their three children.

But not everyone was impressed by the scenes as Twitter users spotted one spectator falling asleep.

One person said: "The woman falling asleep behind Prince Charles to the point they had to change camera angle had us in stitches, bless her! Sometimes you just need a snooze."

While another commented: "Someone wake that lady up, she's been asleep the last 15mins."

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were also absent for a second day running from the festivities, but the Prince of Wales, Duchess of Cornwall, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and their children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis were seated for the street carnival extravaganza.

Thousands had gathered to watch the spectacle mirroring scenes from Saturday night when The Mall was filled with people delighted by Queen's appearance with Paddington Bear at the Party at the Palace, and entertained by stars like Sir Elton John and Alicia Keys.

Military bands, dancers, performers and celebrities paraded through the streets of London on Sunday to mark the final day of the Platinum Jubilee celebrating Queen Elizabeth's 70 years on the British throne.

Under leaden skies, open-topped buses, vintage cars, Olympic cyclists and troops from Britain and the Commonwealth travelled along the route the 96-year-old queen took on her coronation day in 1953.

Reflecting the different decades of the queen's reign, dancers dressed in 1950s outfits danced down the Mall - the grand boulevard leading up to Buckingham Palace - while Morris Minor cars carried Union flags and honked their horns.

The Gold State Coach that carried the queen to Westminster Abbey to be crowned in 1953 was seen in public again for the first time in 20 years.
