Brits to bake in heatwave 'hotter than 35C' this week as temperatures set to soar
The 'Battle of the Weathermen' has reached a new stage, as Exacta Weather claims we're set to roast later this week, while the Met Office's forecast is something completely different
Britain will bake in temperatures above 35C this week, an expert has claimed.
Despite a mini weekend heatwave being replaced around the country by cooler weather today, one weather expert claims that the rest of the week is going to be hotter than any of us would have expected. And although rumours of “heat domes” and more have been running rampant in recent weeks, the mercury hasn't really gone above 25C so far this year.
However, according to James Madden of Exacta Weather, it's going to get very, very hot.
He said, once again taking aim at the Met Office and BBC Weather: “Another forced check of the current BBC and Met Office apps for... later this week are showing some very unsettled conditions and temperatures no higher than 19°C for my own location in Lancashire and no higher than 25°C for London.
“Honestly guys, this is absolutely ridiculous once again and way undervalued on the basis of the heat charts and high pressure rises that I am viewing myself for this period, and I will post the actual daytime temperatures later this week. At the very least, we are going to see temperatures well in excess of 30-35c in the hottest parts of the country later this week
“Some unsettled conditions may encroach or exist from the far north of the country during this period, but it will be more towards next week and after the upcoming weekend before this cooler and unsettled theme really begins to kick in.”
Madden does warn, however, to enjoy it while it lasts as it will return to “rather cool and unsettled” temperatures after the weekend.
Although he doesn't specify exact temperatures, he claims that he now also only has a “low to moderate” confidence of the heat burst he predicted for between August 10-15 actually happening now.
He added: “The cool and unsettled theme becomes the more predominant feature from a more southerly driven jet stream – something we have covered predominantly over the past several months.”
Despite Exacta's claims, the Met Office forecast is very different, which states that tomorrow will consist of persistent heavy rain in Scotland turning more showery later on into the day, while elsewhere will see light showers in the west and north with sunny spells.
And for Thursday to Saturday, it states: “A band of cloud and rain moves eastwards on Thursday, likely clearing to sunshine and showers for most on Friday. Remaining showery into the weekend. Windy throughout.”
At this point, your guess is as good as ours.
