Charlie Kirk was fatally shot on Wednesday (September 10), leaving behind wife Erika and two children - and the right-wing commentator's widow has now spoken out about her husband's death

Charlie Kirk's death has sparked outrage across the world. However, no one is more devastated at his passing than his family; specifically his widow Erika.

The right-wing commentator, 31, was fatally shot on Wednesday (September 10) as he addressed students at Utah Valley University. Suspected gunman Tyler Robinson, 22, has now been arrested in connection with the assassination.

Now Erika has spoken out about her husband's death. Addressing the public for the first time Mr Kirk's widow last night (Friday, September 12), Erika, 36, appeared in a live stream to share a heartbreaking tribute to her partner.

Erika wept as she pledged: "Charlie, I promise I will never let your legacy die, baby; I promise I'll make Turning Point USA the biggest thing that this nation has ever seen."

Addressing "evil-doers", Mrs Kirk said: "You have no idea the fire that you have ignited within this wife, the cries of this widow will echo around the world like a battle cry.

"They should all know this: if you thought that my husband's mission was powerful before you have no idea, you have no idea what you just have unleashed across this entire country and this world."

Mr and Mrs Kirk first met in New York in 2019 and fell in love immediately. The two conservatives moved quickly and officially were engaged by the end of the following year, tying the knot in May 2021.

The pair welcomed two children into the world as they began to use their power to back conservative values in the political and public sphere.

Erika was an ardent supporter of her husband's ideals, and opted to homeschool their two kids - aged three and one - all while giving her backing to her hubby. When asked about her support, she revealed she believed it to be a form of submission, according to KPTV.

"I love submitting to Charlie because he is a phenomenal leader, and the way that he loves me melts me to want to be able to," she explained.

She studied political science at college and is currently working to get a doctorate in biblical studies and Christian leadership. Outside of her political and religious career, she enjoyed a brief stint basketball player, but only briefly.

One of her biggest claims to fame came in 2012, when she was crowned Miss Arizona on her 23rd birthday. She would go on to represent Arizona on the national Miss USA pageant that same year, but would ultimately fail to place.

Mrs Kirk also directly addressed Donald Trump in her statement, who revealed he would posthumously award Charlie the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

Wiping away tears, she said: "Mr President, my husband loved you and he knew that you loved him too; but most of all, Charlie loved his children and he loved me with all his heart. And he made sure I knew that everyday."

Investigations into Mr Kirk's death are ongoing. Suspect Robinson was arrested on Friday and remains in police custody while forensics are being carried out at the scene of the shooting.
