Máquina que produz energia limpa infinita será apresentada hoje

Ainda não foi ontem. Mas talvez seja hoje. Alegando problemas técnicos, a empresa irlandesa Steorn adiou para hoje, 05/07, a apresentação pública da sua máquina magnética capaz de fornecer energia limpa infinita (veja Moto-contínuo: empresa lança desafio à comunidade científica).
Lei de conservação de energia
Segundo o proprietário da empresa, Sean McCarthy, a sua máquina de energia infinita, batizada de Orbo, "produz energia consistentemente, indo contra a lei de conservação de energia que estabelece que a energia não pode ser criada ou destruída."
Além de uma apresentação ao vivo no site da empresa, um exemplar da Orbo estará em exposição em uma pequena galeria de arte de Londres, chamada Kinetica Museum. Veja todos os links logo abaixo, no quadro Para navegar.
A apresentação consistirá em fazer girar um disco de policarbonato transparente sem utilizar nenhum tipo de energia externa - somente a energia gerada pela própria máquina. O feito, conforme anúncio da empresa, poderá ser acompanhado de vários ângulos.
Avaliação científica
Mesmo que o anúncio da demonstração esteja causando um verdadeiro furor na imprensa, a Steorn não manteve a Orbo exatamente escondida. Em 18 de Agosto de 2006 a empresa publicou um anúncio na conceituada revista The Economist, colocando seu moto contínuo à disposição dos cientistas, para que eles pudessem analisar e verificar o funcionamento da máquina.
Milhares de pesquisadores ao redor do mundo se candidataram, mas a empresa selecionou apenas 22, cujos nomes não foram divulgados. Os testes começaram em Janeiro de 2007 e não há data prevista para o término.

Perhaps the only thing more impressive than claimed possession of an "infinite free energy" machine is the refusal to give-in under the weight of the world's skepticism-turned ire. "We screwed up," admitted Steorn's CEO Sean McCarthy yesterday after their failed demonstration, but "if we were here to rig a demo, we'd all be here watching a wheel spin." As shyster-Sean explains, Steorn brought three systems to London, one of which they got working for "about 4-hours" on Tuesday night. As we all know by now, it mysteriously ceased to function after it was moved to the display room. At that point, there was a breakdown of the watchmaker-quality bearings causing friction to "go to hell." Sean no longer attributes the failings to the lamp heat, lamenting only that his team doesn't know the cause. Moving forward Sean alluded to a less "covert and cryptic" Steorn as they attempt to regain the confidence (they had it?) of the public and more importantly, their shareholders who are more than likely discussing matters with legal counsel at this very moment. Still, he promised to return. Next time, however, the system will already be up and running before the demonstration is announced. While we seriously doubt they've circumvented the laws of our physical world, half the fun of any good scam (and this is a good'n) is picking apart the components to reveal the truth."
