A mechanic has tragically died on the job as he re-entered a safety cordon surrounding a Boeing jet engine after forgetting a tool. His body was helplessly sucked in, sparking a fire

A man has died after getting sucked into a plane engine. The tragedy happened at Iran's Chabahar Konarak airport as a mechanic attempted to retrieve a tool

The victim has been named as Abolfazl Amiri who was carrying our routine maintenance on Iran's Varesh Airline's Boeing 737-500.

It was the right engine which had been turned on with cover flaps open for a test run, when Abolfazl scrambled back through a safety area around it to grab a tool he'd forgotten, Bild reports.

As he returned to the engine, Abolfazl couldn't defy the engine's pull which fatally sucked him in before erupting into a horror blaze.

Airport fire brigade responded to the emergency and recovered Abolfazl's remains.

An investigation has since been launched by Iran's aviation authority.

This is the second time this year that someone has been sucked into a plane engine their death. In May we reported a plane bound for Denmark from Amsterdam, Holland, was in the process of being pushed back from the stand when the accident happened.

They are understood to have died after they got caught in the engine of a KLM Cityhopper Embraer E190 as it went to depart Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. Both staff and passengers are understood to have borne witness to the nightmare incident.
