Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic is one of the most in-demand forward's in Europe right now, with Newcastle one of a number of clubs said to be eyeing a move for him

Newcastle United have reportedly tabled a nine-figure bid for Arsenal target and Serie A top scorer Dusan Vlahovic.

The Serbian striker has fired in 15 goals in 17 league matches for Fiorentina this term and recently became only the third player in the last 60 years to score 30 Serie A goals in a year.

His 32 league goals in 2021 mean he joins Luca Toni and Cristiano Ronaldo in the exclusive club, with Vlahovic having scored 21 in the league last season as well.

As a result, a number of clubs are eyeing a move for the 21-year-old and Newcastle may be leading the race.

Calciomercato report that the Magpies' new owners have given approval for an €100million (£85million) bid in the January transfer window.

Not only would this make Vlahovic the fourth most expensive player in Premier League history, he would also become Newcastle's club record signing.

Their current record transfer fee paid is £40million, which they paid Hoffenheim to sign Joelinton back in 2019.

However, reports also suggest that Vlahovic is currently undecided on the move, with Newcastle struggling at the wrong end of the table.

In addition, a host of top clubs are also understood to be interested in signing him, including both Arsenal and Manchester United.

Tottenham Hotspur were linked with a move during the summer as they looked into possible replacements for Harry Kane before he decided to stay at the club.

Meanwhile, Bayern Munich are believed to have sent scouts to watch Vlahovic in recent matches as they look for a potential successor to Robert Lewandowski.

The Polish international has been reported to be eyeing a fresh challenge after seven years with Bayern.

If Newcastle were able to bring Vlahovic to St. James' Park in the New Year then he could be become the first signing of the club's new era.

Newcastle were bought by a Saudi-led group back in October, with new manager Eddie Howe now eyeing additions to his squad with the additional funds.

England international Kieran Trippier and Lille centre-back Sven Botman have both been circulated as potential January targets.
