“We have to keep everything open. It is nothing that I can speculate on this early in the investigation. So far, we are keeping tight and restrained so that the preliminary investigation can have its way”.

Two British citizens have been found shot and killed after reportedly renting a car in Denmark and driving across the border to Sweden.

Police are now investigating a possible double murder, with the bodies having been recovered by firefighters called to the scene. Emergency services were beckoned to the Fosie industrial area in the coastal city of Malmö on Sunday (July 14). The Brits are understood to have rented a car from Copenhagen Kastrup airport but were later found across the border of neighbouring Sweden.

Local media reports that police believe the victims were shot before the car was set alight. At the time of writing, authorities have been unable to identify the remains but say they “have an idea of who they are”.

They are now seeking information about a Danish-registered black Toyota Rav 4. MailOnline reports that Interpol is now involved in the investigation.

A forensic investigation is due this week as authorities work to for a position to be able to identify their next of kin.

They are asking people to get in touch if they saw the black Toyota between 11.30am and 2pm on Sunday, July 14.

The victims were last seen passing the Öresund Bridge toll station on Sunday afternoon, with Swedish outlet Aftonbladet now saying cops fear more violence could still be to come.

Swedish Police Authority spokesperson Kerstin Gossé said she hadn’t heard anything regarding this internally. Police also refused to comment on whether they thought the deaths were gang-related.

“We have to keep everything open. It is nothing that I can speculate on this early in the investigation," Gossé said. So far, we are keeping tight and restrained so that the preliminary investigation can have its way”.
