When you are heading off on holiday you worry about who will check your house, and make sure no one has broken in, but how safe is where you are headed for your mini break?

The most dangerous place to go on holiday in the UK might raise some eyebrows given its seaside charm and attractions.

Holidaymakers typically worry about their own home security when left empty for a week or so, but new research suggests we should also be considering just how safe our destination is – even if it's in the UK.

Security experts at ADT have analysed crime data to reveal the safety and riskiest staycations in the UK.

They looked at crime rates, including burglary rates to help you book smarter and safer.

The most dangerous place in the UK has been identified as North Lincolnshire, which has a crime rate of 5,743 per 10,000.

Despite its high crime rate, the area is known for its holiday attractions including a vast selection of golf courses and beaches.

Derbyshire has been named as the second most dangerous place, with a crime rate of 3,205 per 10,000 people.

Well-known for the Peak District, Derbyshire offers plenty of outdoor activities, from endless hiking and biking routes to breathtaking views.
